Nearly £2,000 has been awarded to three clubs across the Shipley constituency as part of the government’s drive to support grass roots sports.
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has announced Cullingworth Juniors will be given £412 Wilsden Primary School will receive £492 and Salts Juniors Football £1,045 to be spent on goalposts.
Shipley MP Philip Davies welcomed the investment.
He said: “I know from visiting different grassroots clubs across the constituency what a difference they make to our local communities and how much young people enjoy taking part.
“I am delighted three organisations in my constituency were successful in securing funding. Grassroots facilities are vital in nurturing future sporting talents as well as encouraging people to get active and keep fit.”
Nationally more than 1,700 facilities were awarded cash as part of government’s commitment to invest in grassroots facilities, including upgrades, improvements and new pitches.
Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer said: “We are committed to levelling up access to sport which is so important for the nation’s physical and mental health.
“We are delivering more than 1,700 new and improved grassroots sports facilities across the UK to continue to support, sustain and grow community and grassroots sport - so that physical activity is accessible to all, no matter a person’s background or location.”
