Home to Saltaire, a World Heritage Site, the Shipley constituency has something to offer for everyone.
From vintage trains to picturesque views, the Shipley constituency is definitive of Yorkshire. This Shipley constituency encompasses Baildon, Bingley, Burley in Wharfedale, Cottingley, Crossflatts, Cullingworth, Denholme, Eldwick, Esholt, Harecroft, Gilstead, Harden, Menston, Micklethwaite, Saltaire, Shipley, Wilsden, Windhill, Wrose and surrounding areas.
The area is known for being the home of the Saltaire World Heritage Site, which places it in the company of some of the greatest destinations on earth such as the Egyptian pyramids, the Taj Mahal and the Tower of London. The village was built by Sir Titus Salt, mill owner and philanthropist, in the 19th century for the mental, spiritual and physical welfare of his workers. Today the complex houses the 1853 gallery, which contains the largest collection of art in Europe by David Hockney.
Many of the constituency's villages and towns date back to Saxon times and have seen their success in the woollen trade along with other manufacturing sectors.
Today the area is a modern place for business and living, but is one that remembers and cherishes its history. Visit http://www.visitbradford.com/ for more information on the area.
