Philip visited Burley-in-Wharfedale’s community library to hear about the excellent work it does and what it offers to the community.
Philip spent time meeting volunteers and was told about the activities on offer including a book club, knitting, chess, exercise classes as well as support in the form of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
The Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Managed Library is run by more than 60 local volunteers who are supported by a part time member of staff employed by Burley Parish Council.
Philip said: “This is a great facility with lots on offer of different activities for people to get involved in and there is also a lovely children’s play area. The volunteers are clearly passionate about what they do and deliver an excellent service for the community. It was fantastic to be able to visit and see first-hand what was on offer.”
The library is owned and managed by Burley Parish Council and supported by Bradford Council.
