Businesses across the area have come together for a working breakfast hosted by Philip – allowing them to have their say over what needs to be done to benefit the local area.
The latest of the regular events was held at Shipley Golf Club with guest speaker David Shepherd, Strategic Director for Place at Bradford Council. Mr Shepherd faced questions on a range of issues including the regeneration of Bingley Centre, in particular the pool and Town hall area and when will the area get the much-needed Shipley Eastern Bypass.
Questions around revenue raised from the clean air zone and how it will be spent were also raised, along with what the City of Culture 2025 can achieve and bring to the area.
Philip said: “It was a good meeting with lots of important issues raised. These breakfast meetings are a great way to discuss local issues and also hear from businesses about other issues I can take back to Westminster and discuss with ministers.
“I have been clear I want to see a Shipley Eastern Bypass and government has made it clear to me that Bradford Council is holding this up by not committing to paying a proportion of the cost. Until that happens government’s hands are tied as it cannot progress further without this commitment form the council.
“I want to thank David for coming to speak and for Shipley Golf Course for hosting the event.”
