A Bingley businessman passionate about helping others and bringing investment into the area was recognised at an event in Downing Street this week.
MPs were invited to nominate a business champion from their area and those nominations were looked at, with some being invited to the event hosted by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
Shipley MP Philip Davies nominated Jamie Illingworth from Illingworth McNair, a firm of independent insurance brokers in Bingley. Mr Illingworth is also the President of Bingley Chamber of Trade and Commerce.
Mr Davies said: “I nominated Jamie to attend this event as the company’s business goals are simple - to provide a highly professional and personal service, the best customer service and product range, invest in their staff, look after their suppliers and be part of their local community.
“I have heard from people who have dealt with the company how friendly, professional and all round excellent service they offer to customers, both on an individual level but also on a bigger business scale. I am delighted Jamie was recognised for this work as he is a great champion for Bingley and cares passionately about promoting small businesses in the area and making the town a wonderful place to live and work.”
Each MP was asked to nominate one person from their constituency, meaning a possible 650 entries were put forward. About 100 people were chosen to attend the event in Downing Street on Wednesday.
Mr Illingworth added: “It was a privilege to attend the business champion reception after being nominated by Philip. I also had the opportunity to chat with Jeremy Hunt which was great.”
