More must be done to create jobs in across the district as Bradford is ranked one of the worst places in the UK for employment opportunities, an MP has said.
According to a report by job site search engine Adzuna Bradford is the joint sixth toughest place to find work, with 1.87 people chasing every job.
Sunderland is ranked worst at 2.79 jobseekers per vacancy compared with 0.05 in Cambridge.
Shipley MP Philip Davies said: “Unemployment in my constituency is the lowest across the Bradford district but all levels of unemployment are too high when people want to work. We need to do everything we can to bring opportunities to the area to get people into jobs. We need to invest in infrastructure to attract more businesses to the district.
“I will continue to work with other MPs across the district and the Council to do everything I can to secure more job opportunities for my constituents.”
Latest figures show 9,130 people are claiming out of work benefits across Bradford, with lowest levels being in Shipley (935) and highest claimant numbers in Bradford West (2,790).
